Happy World Water Day! World Water Day 2013 had a wonderful energy around it, and it helped reinforce the importance of clean water.
Here are some interesting facts about water (facts from UNWater.org):
-Each of us needs to drink 2 to 4 liters of water every day, but it takes 2,000 to 5,000 liters of water to produce one person’s daily food
-Producing 1 kilogram of beef consumes 15,000 liters of water while 1 kilogram of wheat uses 1,500 liters
-30% of the food produced worldwide is never eaten and the water used to produce it is definitively lost
A few things we can do:
-Follow a healthier, sustainable diet
-Consume less water-intensive products
-Reduce the scandalous food wastage
