Our early aughts dreams are a reality! If you haven’t heard, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are engaged, again! And, making it all the more dreamy, Ben popped the question with an incredible – and SUPER RARE – 8.5ct fancy green engagement ring. We only have a fuzzy image for now, but I’m going to keep my eyes open (updated 4/9/22 at 8:43pm – we have a clear picture!! Oh my gosh, this gorgeous gem is much larger than originally thought: 8.5 carats?! Ben, you’ve outdone yourself!)

Fancy green diamonds are incredibly rare. So rare, in fact, that I did a double take! I haven’t seen a diamond this large and this green, since the Dresden Green, a royal rock that museum curators display next to the infamous Hope. While sapphire and emerald come in this seafoam color, given that JLo’s previous ring from Ben was a fancy pink diamond, I can only believe this upgrade is a fancy green diamond! What a knockout.

JLo’s new sparkler features an 8.5ct cushion cut fancy green, flanked by colorless half-moon sides. And to make it more amazing, it looks to be “fancy intense” color, with no yellow modifier. This kind of price comes at a premium, and there is literally nothing else on the market like it. This means that Ben has been working on this ring for months through private channels. A diamond of this rarity would have gone to auction had he not snapped it up, likely fetching a price around $9 million or more.
